Feature story in JCRC's 2022 Conquest magazine
The ability of cells to change shape and move around is important for the formation of many body tissues, including muscles and nerves. Cell movement is also required for our immune system to work properly, especially the healing of wounds. Unfortunately, sometimes cells lose the ability to function normally, and this may result in birth defects or the spread of cancer to other parts of the body. Our research aims to understand how cells normally move and develop. Our long-term goal is to apply this knowledge for the eventual hope of treating diseases, such as cancer, that result from abnormal cell movements.
